Bébé Week 40 Update

Well here we are at my due date and not a single sign that she's coming today. I won't lie and say I'm not a little disappointed, but I know she'll be here soon. At least now I'll have all the belly pictures through week 40, (even though I didn't start from the beginning) :)

Today's date: December 10, 2011

How far along: 40 weeks

Total weight gain: 24 pounds total.

Size and growth of the baby:
Jill is nearing the size of a small pumpkin (about 21" long, if she's going to be that long. Otherwise, she's whatever length she'll be born at)  and weighs near 7 1/2 pounds! She's ready for her arrival which means it's time to come on out Jilly!  {per}

Sex: Precious baby girl

Maternity clothes: Just about everything

Sleep: Overall I sleep great. I pop just about every joint as I attempt to change positions at night, but it never hurts. I wake up at least once a night to pee, if not more. I can get back to sleep pretty easily after that though.

Best moment(s) of the week: My mama getting into town and making my awesome cookies for the hospital staff.

Movement: Baby girl has had a few quiet days, but she always gets her kick count within 30 minutes or so, which tells me she's ok :)

Food cravings/aversions: No real aversions or cravings this week. In fact, I had a little less of an appetite than I did before. I had a PB&J sandwich for dinner the other night just to eat something.

Morning sickness: I take a Zofran almost every day and can keep food down. However, I do still have some moments of queasiness regardless of what I do or eat.

Symptoms: Baby bump, peeing constantly, waddling instead of walking, lots of stretch marks, lower abdomen pressure, baby kicks, some pelvic pain/cramps, some heartburn/acid, light Braxton Hicks, a little queasiness, and gassy.

Labor signs: I'll feel some Braxton Hicks from time to time, but it's mostly my belly getting hard all over. I feel tinges down there every so often as well. However, none of these hurt so it could just be practice stuff. Considering I didn't dilate or efface any more than my last appointment, I don't think these were true labor signs.

Belly button in or out: In

What I miss: Not a whole heck of a lot :)

What I'm looking forward to: Jill's birth in the next 48 hours!

Weeks 20, 30, and 40...

I Can't Make This Stuff Up

A few things have happened to me this week, so I thought I'd write them down before my pregnant brain forgot.

1) My mama made it! She flew in on Thursday morning after my doctor's appointment. My dad will be starting his driving trek from Minnesota starting tomorrow and should arrive on Sunday afternoon. It's so great to have my parents be able to make it for Jill's birth. My dad will drive all the way here tomorrow if she decides to come on her due date but...

2) it looks like I'm going to have to be induced. Even after feeling what I thought were more tingles and contractions, I was not dilated any more than last week, (which was 1 cm). That being said, I'm ok with inducing, but I mostly want to make sure everything goes smoothly for both of our sakes. She is still healthy, as am I, so it should be fine. Any thoughts are prayers are still appreciated :)

3) Phil wanted to surprised me with some donuts and an iced latte from Dunkin Donuts. Well, he asked for a chocolate long john for himself. As the girl reaches for a different donut, he reminds her of what he wanted. She replies with "Chocolate long john? I thought you said Vanilla Cream!" Umm.... those don't even sound remotely close, but ok. Then when he asked for a decaf caramel iced latte, she asked him "Do you want that hot or cold?" o.0 How do you like your iced latte? Hot or cold? Yeesh...

4) I got a lovely surprise from my former university. Apparently I had a Perkins loan that was done directly through the school. It started requiring payments back in October. The problem with this? I HAD NO CORRESPONDENCE! I had nothing in the form of email or snail mail alerting me to this loan. So now? I'm 3 months past due and will need to pay $400 to get back on track. Good heavens and Merry Christmas to you too. And this is the second time this school has screwed me over in some way since I transferred schools. That really ticked me off.

5) After the loan incident, Phil and I were in our bedroom trying to relax. There is a neighbor of ours that  hawks a loogie every. single. time. he walks outside and he happens to do it directly under our bedroom window. It's truly disgusting. Anyways, I hear him come out and start hawking away. I stomp to the window and grab the string to pull up the blinds so I can stare at him disapprovingly. *I understand that would not have accomplished anything, but it's what I wanted to do.* The next thing I know, the blinds are on the floor because I broke the top part clean off. Now it's super glued to the supports and I'm not allowed to touch it anymore. I still can't believe I broke them. The best part? I didn't have any pants on when they fell. I'm so glad no one was paying attention to us. That would have been embarrassing...

6) You know what's weird? If I steer clear of spicy foods, I get heartburn. If I eat something spicy, I feel great all day. It's a good thing I like Tabasco sauce.

7) What does a girl do when she knows her due date is the next day but the baby is mostly likely not coming? Why, she bakes cookies for the staff at the hospital of course! I put Jillian's monogram on the cookies because "Thank you" was too long for the cookies. I hope they like them!

Now I'm going to enjoy some more time with my mama before heading to bed. Happy Friday y'all!

Cheers To A Great Man

Today is a special day...

The first man of my life turned another year younger! I wish I could have been with him to celebrate, but knowing he'll be here in less than 5 days to celebrate the birth of my daughter is worth the wait :) I have a feeling Jill will be just as much of a daddy's girl as I am.

Daddy-O,
I love you so very much! You are an amazing man and I am so blessed to have you in my life. It means so much to me that you'll be near by for your granddaughter's birth. I also love the fact that she'll have a birthday so close to yours, (even though it would have been fun if you shared the same day). I'm happy you had a great day and I pray your travels will be safe, (no more deers!), and that Ms. Jill will wait for you to get here :)
Happy Birthday!
Love,
Sug
xoxo

Bébé Week 39 Update

Today's date: December 3, 2011

How far along: 39 weeks

Total weight gain: Around 25 pounds total.

Size and growth of the baby:
Jill is nearing the size of a mini watermelon (about 21" long, if she's going to be that long. Otherwise, she's whatever length she'll be born at)  and weighs a little over 7 pounds! Her organs are ready for life outside of the womb and she has shed most of her lanugo and vernix. She is almost completely out of room to wiggle around, which means it's time to come out baby girl!  {per}

Sex: Girly girl

Maternity clothes: Just about everything

Sleep: After a few rough nights of restless sleep, I am finally sleeping well again. I do hear my joints popping every time I try to move positions, but it's worth it :)

Best moment(s) of the week: Being told I'm 1 cm dilated and meeting a fellow preggo's daughter! She was very cute and I hope Jill is just as calm as she was.

Movement: Baby girl is a mover and a shaker. She does have quiet moments, but overall she's pretty active. Jill can do her 10 movements for my kick counts as quickly as 9 minutes, though she averages about 20 minutes total.

Food cravings/aversions: No real aversions or cravings this week. I did finally get some Fruity Pebbles which I was craving a lot this summer so that was nice!

Labor signs: I'll feel some Braxton Hicks from time to time, but nothing major and no abdominal cramping. I can feel Jill moving around lower than normal and it causes some of the nerves in my pelvis to really hurt for a few moments. However, I have a feeling that baby girl is going to be stubborn and we will have to induce. She is pretty satisfied with her current residence and she never really shows signs for long that she's ready to come out.

What I miss: Not a whole heck of a lot :)

What I'm looking forward to: Jill coming into the world... soon!

Weeks 19, 29, and 39....

I had a rough day yesterday in terms of my hormones. The local weather was predicting between 3 and 7 inches of snow on Monday. That's right, I said SNOW! This of course upset me because I want my family to make it. I'm sure my in-laws could get here, but my mom would still have to fly AND my dad is driving from Minnesota. Even though he can drive in snow, that doesn't mean the people he'd be driving with down here know what they're doing. So I had a minor freak out and cried for quite awhile. I'm better now and they are starting to say 2" tops, if at all. I know God's in charge, but it's just so nerve-wrecking since I have no control over when Ms. Jill decides to get here. Like I said in the update, we may have to kick her out regardless, but I won't know for sure until the time comes.

Today has been quiet which is very nice. Phil and I watched Houston lose to Southern Miss, ran a few errands, watched Seven Pounds, and now we're watching the Bedlam game! Go Pokes!! The nice thing is, with those errands, we are offically ready for Jill's arrival. We have the firewood I wanted in case of snow/ice and we have enough trash bags and other miscellany to take care of us. Also, all we have left to pack in our hospital bag are the cellphone chargers, Phil's laptop, and his glasses. Other than that, we're ready to jump in the car at any moment!

I wish I had more to talk about besides, "Oh we're just about ready for any minute"... but that's kind of all I got. If you've been pregnant before, you can understand. Even if you don't have children, I'm sure you can imagine.

Hope y'all have had a great Saturday!

This Is The Month!

First and foremost, I'm in a much better mood lately. I'm not completely cured of my piss-y attitude, but it is improving. I personally owe it to the fact that I'm sleeping better. I have more aches and pains at night, but I am sleeping better overall.

Secondly, I had a doctor's appointment today. I am dilated about 1 cm so far. That's not a big deal, but it does show progress. Due to my body showing it's preparing and favorable, my doctor is open to inducing near our due date in case Ms. Jill decides to take her time getting here. The nice thing about inducing would be having my dad make it in time for the birth as well as my mom. Who knows though... I could go into labor tonight, though I highly doubt it. I feel a few tinges here and there, but overall I don't feel any Braxton Hicks or anything to really show that labor is impending. Honestly, now that it's December, (and Jill is officially a December baby), I just can't wait to meet her. This is the month I become a mother. This is the month our lives change forever in a big and amazing way. If she comes on her due date or before, we are in the single digit countdown. Single digits! I honestly would not have traded this experience for anything. All the bad stuff like nausea and worrying about stuff and the ridiculous heat all summer long were totally worth it. I would go through all of it all over again :) I'm also incredibly humbled by the love and support that I have received from friends, church members, fellow bloggers, and family. I hope Jill realizes how blessed she is to have so many people love her already!

Dear Jillian,
The time is near for us to finally meet face to face. I have loved you even before I knew you existed. It has been an honor to carry you these 9 months and I can't wait to hold you in my arms. Your daddy is also excited! I can tell you're going to be a big daddy's girl by the way you respond to his voice when he talks to you. Just don't forget that I love you too baby girl! I promise that I will love you every second of every day until I breathe my last. You are the pride and joy of my heart and I thank God that he chose us to be your parents. No matter what, I will never stop loving you. See you soon darling :)
Love,
Your Mommy

I'm A Grump

I usually don't like to be too gloomy in my posts. This is not to be insincere, but I know I wouldn't want to read post after post of negative blogs. However, I really need to get this off my chest. It will not hurt my feelings if you skip reading this :)

Obviously, the world is ready to meet Jill. Why? Because I've been a grump for nearly 3 days straight. I'm not even upset about being pregnant. It is a bunch of little things that are just really rubbing me the wrong way. My blood pressure is no doubt a little high right now.

It would figure that the day I post this about how well I'm still sleeping at 38 weeks, I'd have a horrible night sleep. Granted, I just woke up every 1 1/2 to 2 hours to pee, but it left me feeling really unrested. It was chilly on Sunday as well, so I just wanted to stay away from the world. That night, sleep was even worse. Not only did I feel tired but couldn't fall asleep... I kept having heartburn AFTER I took some Tums. Usually Tums makes me feel better, but it was just not working for me. What time did I finally get to sleep? 12:30. What still happened early 1 1/2 hours? Waking up to pee and trying to get our of bed without hurting myself too much. Thank you pelvic pain.

What happens? I'm super grumpy from my lack of sleep for 2 days straight. What else happens? I feel icky all. day. long. I barely ate anything yesterday because I felt like I was back in my 1st trimester. I took a long shower before bed, hoping it would help me sleep better.

Last night? I slept from 11 to 6 without waking up at all. The problem with that? I fell asleep on my back so I had a headache from lack of blood flow. Ok, not a super big deal. I'm feeling a little better so I eat breakfast with Phil before he heads out. I then decide I want to finish my baby quilt that I started in 2009. That's right, I said 2009. What can I say? I'm an Aries :) Anyways, I run out of thread in my bobbin just as I'm getting started. Well that's annoying. So I run to the bathroom before I relax a little. Then it happens. Our apartment complex turned the water off. Apparently someone in our building is getting a new hot water heater. That's fine, except THEY DIDN'T CONTACT US IN ANY WAY TO TELL US THE WATER WOULD BE OFF. I think technically that's illegal, but whatever. So I had Phil call because I was too mad to see how long it would take. Of course they're like, "Oh we didn't think it'd take awhile... blah blah blah." Well, it was off for 3 hours. 3. Well, 3 from the time I figured out it was off. So having a pregnant lady having to hold in her pee, and stop doing laundry in the middle of a cycle because you didn't think it'd take too long?! Unacceptable to me. I'm so over this. I'm so over apartment living. I was pretty livid for awhile.

Now that the water is back on and I figured out how to re-thread the bobbin, (since you can't buy it like a  spool of thread), I'm in a better mood. However, I'm pretty annoyed still and I'm not too excited about what tomorrow will bring.

Oh, and a girl due 2 days after me is in the hospital now. It's not a contest, but now Phil is looking at me like a ticking time bomb. I don't think I can handle another 2ish weeks of that look. Plus, my mom is SO busy between now and when she's coming for Jill's due date, I'm going to feel guilty if Jill comes early. The icing on the cake? We may have a small ice situation on Saturday. Wonderful. Baby girl, please do not come Saturday. I don't think I could handle battling ice to get to the hospital.

That's why I'm grumpy. I'm sure this is all really mundane stuff that really doesn't matter and I'm pretty sure I'm this piss-y because I'm so pregnant right now. However, this is how I feel right now. I just hope I'm able to be more pleasant soon. I don't want to hurt anyone, especially Phil, right before I deliver. I want to have happier memories than that leading up to my daughter's arrival.

Hope y'all are having a better time than I am.

Bébé Week 38 Update

Today's date: November 26, 2011

How far along: 38 weeks

Total weight gain: Around 21 pounds total.

Size and growth of the baby:
Jill is nearing the size of a leek (about 21" long, if she's going to be that long. Otherwise, she's whatever length she'll be born at)  and weighs around 6 pounds and 9 oz! She has a firm grip and all of her organs are developed for life outside the womb. She has some hair, (the ultrasound tech confirmed this), and she's getting into position to be born.  {per}

Sex: Girl

Maternity clothes: Just about everything

Sleep: I have no trouble sleeping for several hours. I do wake up every few hours to pee or change positions. I've only had a few instances where it took me awhile to fall back asleep, but I always could.

Best moment(s) of the week: Having a good appointment, being with my family for Thanksgiving, and being just about prepared for Jill's arrival!

Movement: Baby girl is a mover and a shaker. She does have quiet moments, but overall she's active.

Food cravings/aversions: No real aversions, but I had some heartburn/acid problems yesterday and part of today that made me lose my appetite. I didn't have a specific craving, but our green bean casserole really hit the spot! I may make more so I can eat it all! HAHA

Labor signs: I'll feel some Braxton Hicks from time to time, but nothing major and no abdominal cramping. I can feel Jill moving around lower than normal and it causes some of the nerves in my pelvis to really hurt for a few moments.

What I miss: Not a whole heck of a lot :)

What I'm looking forward to: Jill coming into the world REALLY soon!

Weeks 18, 28, and 38 for fun...

If you have followed me for more than a few months, you know that I have a tendency to completely ignore my computer, (and my cell phone), when I'm with my parents. Most of the time, our visits are incredibly short so I like to soak up every second that I can. In fact, I had 33 texts to go through at one point! I'm sure y'all understand anyways :)

We had an ultrasound on Tuesday to confirm Jill's position and her size. I don't know how long she is, but she was 6 lbs and 7 oz. Everything else looked great! However, this is the only "good" picture we got...
Someone was sleeping with her arm across her face. She is definitely my little sugar booger :) My parents got in late Tuesday night.

Wednesday we had an early appointment with Dr. V. No change in my cervix, which is ok. Then my parents and I ran a few errands before touring Phil's place of employment/had lunch with him.

Thursday was of course full of cooking and eating and spending time with one another. My brother was able to make it to dinner so the 5 of us had a great time. Plus, I was happy to use some of my hostess-y things, like my gravy boat, monogrammed napkins, etc. After we relaxed for a bit, we all went to see the new Muppet movie! Even though it was crowded, and the lady behind me was annoying the tar out of me, it was a fun movie that we all enjoyed. My brother ended up crashing on my couch so that we could all be together for a little longer.

Friday, my parents left about 7:15 a.m. to drive home, (my mom had a funeral she needed to do this morning), and Phil went to the TU v. Houston game in Tulsa. My brother ended up sleeping in the guest room for a little longer, but left around 2 p.m. I wasn't alone for long, but I was happy to have Phil home later because I always get a little depressed the day my parents leave. Unfortunately Phil pinched a nerve in his shoulder and has been in pain off and on since he's been home. However, he is starting to feel a little better so I hope he's back to normal tomorrow.

Today, we ran to Target for cat food and grabbed a warm drink at the Starbucks inside. It was really rainy and chilly so it was a nice treat. Then we came home and relaxed for most of the day. I did finish washing all of Jill's clothes and we are officially decorated for Christmas! This might be the earliest I have decorated my home for Christmas, but I wanted to be prepared. I know I won't be in the mood or have the energy once Miss Jill is here. There was a moment when I was asking Phil about water breaking because I was peeing nearly every 30 minutes for about 2ish hours. I just wanted to see if he remembered what they said in our birthing class about slow leaking water when it breaks. Apparently I made his heart skip a beat by doing that! I called my mom to be sure, but we all decided it was just pressure on my bladder. I will be a little more cautious about asking Phil those kinds of questions though HAHA He seemed pretty calm to me though which is important. Even if my water had broken, it was no time to panic. I didn't even really have any Braxton Hicks today so I wasn't too worried about it. My lower back is a little sore tonight, but that could be for a number of reasons.

Overall, we had a great week and I can't wait until my parents come back for Jill's arrival! Now it's time to play catch up with Twitter and blogs...

Hope y'all had a wonderful Thanksgiving :)

But I Know What It Feels Like

This post is going to be awfully vulnerable and hard for me, but I really want to finally say it out loud. I got permission for my daughter ...
