Date Number Five for 2013

This was probably our least exciting date night for the year, but it still counts!

Monday, Phil and I went to an Infant CPR class at the hospital I'm going to deliver David. {It's also where Jillian was born!} We got our babysitter lined up, and headed to the class. I only took a picture of the folder they gave us because I felt funny taking a picture of the baby they gave us. It was a pretty full class, and I didn't want to be that  person ;) We both showed the teacher how we would administer CPR and the choking guidelines. I'm happy to report that we both passed :)
{Lots of good info, though the video was much more dramatic than I remember}

After the class, we went to a local ice cream store for some deliciousness!
{Phil got a brownie, hot fudge sundae thing, and I had a double dip cone. The top flavor was Egg Nog, which is a favorite of mine! Usually they are low or out when I ask for it closer to Christmas, so I was excited to get some now :) The bottom flavor was Cappuccino Chunky Chocolate frozen yogurt. I never had it before, but it was super delicious! I will definitely get it again}

When we got home, Jillian had been crying off and on, so we ended up sitting with her on the couch for about 30 minutes before she was calm enough to sleep. She has a small cold on top of her allergies, so I think that's what the problem was. She's doing better today, but we'll see how tonight goes.

The last date night of the year will be more traditional than this one. It was still fun to spend some one-on-one time with one of my favorite guys in the world :)

Halloween 2013

Even though we're being super lame and not doing anything today, we would still love to wish you a...

Happy Halloween!

We won't be passing out candy, we're having a pot roast for dinner, and the grown-ups will be watching a scary movie after Jilly goes to bed. {Told you we're being lame!} Between me being super pregnant, and Jillian being just a little too young to go door-to-door in our opinion, we figured a quiet Halloween was in the cards for this year. That doesn't mean we didn't dress up our sweet girl :)

If you remember from this post, her costume is Little Red Riding Hood!
{It was very hard to get her attention!}

I also did a comparison picture because she wore the same outfit she did last year. She has changed so much! *tear*

We hope you have a fun, and safe evening, no matter what your plans are :)

How You Know You're A Mom to a Toddler Girl

I've been thinking lately about how different life is going to be like with a boy. I'm so used to being a girl mom, that I sometimes worry I won't know what to do with a boy; especially once he becomes an active toddler like Jillian. Overall, I think the transition will be easier than I imagine, {it almost always is}, and I look forward to learning :)

That got me thinking of all the ways I'm a mama to a toddler girl. Can you relate to these? Do you have any to add?
  • You hear the phrase "Ooooo pretty" more often than "Awesome!" (Though you do hear both!)
  • You have a mixture of dolls, cars, puzzles, dinosaurs, and stuffed animals
  • There is always one shirt in the closet that gets glitter everywhere
  • Husbands use the term "cute" and do not feel weird about it
  • You end up in the clothing and/or shoe section of stores like Target, even though you know she has plenty to wear
  • You learned the hard way that eating dirt/random things off the floor, and picking up dead or alive bugs is not just something boys do
  • Hair bows double as an accessory, and a toy for the car
  • Pictures of animals are awesome, but seeing them in real life can be scary
  • Pink can go with anything
  • Though she be small, she is mighty :)

Bébé Deux Week 35 Update

Today's date: October 29, 2013

How far along: 35 Weeks

Total weight gain: 25 pounds

Size and growth of baby: David is the size of a honeydew melon! He is around 5-1/4 pounds, and over 18 inches long. He is running out of room in there, but still moves around (minus the somersaults) His testes have probably fully descended, and he is just about done with developing as he focuses on gaining weight  {via and via}

Baby is a: boy boy boy!

Maternity clothing: All clothing, except a few XXL shirts, my sweatpants {that I only wear them at home}, and cardigans, are maternity.

Sleep: Sleep is decent for now. I've slept hard because I've been completely exhausted by bed time, but that does cut back on my middle-of-the-night potty breaks. I am at the point in pregnancy where I let gravity help me in and out of my bed. I'm sure it's hilarious to watch! I'd love a nap, but those rarely happen.

Movement: He doesn't always do big kicks, but he moves around enough to let me know he's doing ok :) Plus, he gets his kick counts easy peasy!

Cravings/Aversions: Main cravings this week were Nutella, and orange sherbet. No aversions lately.

Morning Sickness: I had two separate instances where I was miserable. I kind of remember nausea picking back up around this time with Jillian too. I took Zofran once, and I'm sure I'll have to again at some point before David arrives.

Symptoms: Obvious baby bump, major heartburn almost every day, back pain, sore nipples (all of a sudden!), stretch marks, abs feeling crampy, nesting, gas/digestive issues, movement, out of breath feeling, peeing lots, light contractions, and tired.

Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks everyday, but nothing painful.

Belly button in or out: In

How this pregnancy is different than the first: More exhaustion at this point, more weight gain, bad heartburn, inability to eat the same types of food I did with Jillian, and slightly more painful movements.

The best moment of this past week: Seeing my brother, having fun at our church's trunk or treat, and knocking out my to-do list!

What I miss: Nothing at all :)

I'm looking forward to: More fall weather, possibly taking some maternity photos in the next week or so, seeing if Jillian has another successful speech therapy and class this week, and being a month away from meeting my son!!

Date Number Four for 2013

Because I'm sure you've been wondering, we finally had date #4!

We ended up taking most of the summer off because we were busy, or I was sick, or other excuses. Phil and I are trying to squeeze the last few dates in as quickly as possible. Mostly because we're not sure how my recovery will go after David arrives.

Last weekend, Phil and I went to dinner at The Melting Pot! Phil purchased a Groupon, and I found out that all of their cheeses are in fact pasteurized. Score for the pregnant lady! With that in mind, we hired our favorite, non-related, babysitter and went to dinner.

{Isn't my date handsome :)}
{Ready to have some fun!}

{We had a cheese fondue, but I didn't get a picture. It was yummy though!}
{For our entrees, Phil got steak, duck, and Mahi Mahi. I had some mushroom sacchetti and it was quite delicious!}

{Looking at the dessert menu}

{Everything sounded good, but we went with the pure milk chocolate}

{It was quite the feast!}

After dinner, we headed home. Even though we got home around 9, we were falling asleep in our bed watching "How I Met Your Mother" by 9:30. Oh yeah, did I mentioned we're party animals right now?! HAHAHA

Overall, it was a nice evening together :)

But I Know What It Feels Like

This post is going to be awfully vulnerable and hard for me, but I really want to finally say it out loud. I got permission for my daughter ...
