Today was quiet, then hectic, then back to decent again. There's usually this type of emotional roller-coaster when I'm in my office alone for half the day. You'd think I'd be used to it by now ;)
I had a rough drive this morning because we were experiencing some heavy thunderstorms. In an attempt to get the ahead of the hail, I ended up getting in the office around 7:17 a.m. - the time I usually leave my apartment to get to work. Now that the day is nearly over, I made these comments on my twitter account:
True I'm not that clever, but I hope it at least made you smile - if nothing else out of pity for my horrible joke. Hey, a smile is a smile :)

This Weekend Thursday

I'm going to have a fairly quiet weekend this week! Don't get me wrong about busy weekends. I had a good time last weekend when we had a mini-escape to Tulsa where I also got to see one of my best friends. However, it's nice to be home and, let's be honest, clean.

Phil and I have no current plans for Friday, but I have a feeling we'll end up going to see this. I've heard it's good and there's not many other movies we want to see. I'm sure we'll sleep in Saturday, have waffles for breakfast, I'm going to check in our my church because we're hosting a conference, then we're cleaning the apartment. It desperately needs it! Sunday we'll have church, grocery shopping, then Martinis and How I Met Your Mother time :)

Sunday nights are quickly becoming my favorite. Not just because Phil and I toast to a new week with a tasty beverage. We always pick up the living room area, turn out all but 1 overhead light, I light my candles on the fireplace mantle and we watch a great show together. Ahhh... sounds relaxing already!

Beauty I've Always Missed...

Here in Oklahoma, we have had a few beautiful days of late spring weather. I even got to wear some sandals to work on Thursday of last week! However, we're going through a cool front right now before turning back into highs in the 60's and 70's.

In honor of the weather/my desire for it to be warm again, I present you with...

Shoesday: Sandal Edition!*

I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this before, but I spent summer 2006 working a wonderful job. I was a staff member at the summer church camp I attended all through junior high. I would have gone in high school, but my dating life seemed more important, (silly me!). Several of the other staff members owned a pair of Chacos and just raved about them. Ever since then, I've wanted to get my own pair. These look like a great pair and they are part of the "Best Sellers" category. If you're an outdoorsy type, especially during the summer months, I would definitely recommend these!

I've always liked the look of beaded sandals, but I'm always too cautious to buy them. I worry that the beads will slowly fall out and make the sandal look silly by the end of the summer. Being a lover of all things Tarzjay, I would be happy to test these beauties out. Plus, turquoise is one of my favorite colors :)

I will be the first to admit that I've never really been a fan of the gladiator shoe trend. It's been around a while now and I'm still pretty set on not purchasing any shoes in that style. It's just personal taste. However, when I saw these shoes, I may be willing to reconsider! I think they're super cute and would give them a try. I'm not thrilled about the zipper on the heel, so if you have a pair that has that, let me know what you think!

I have some sandals similar to this style that I purchased last year from Target. I do like the ones I have, but the shoe is completely flat so it makes my feet ache if I'm on them too long. I like how there is a slight heel to this shoe and I have a feeling they'd be comfortable, even if I'm on my feet for a while.

These look super cute and I think they'd go well with a nicer outfit for an outdoor summer wedding or something similar. Plus, I'm a sucker for anything with "bling" on it ;)

I could practically live in Old Navy Flip-Flops! I just love flip-flops in general and Old Navy has always made pairs that can last through summer and beyond. I have noticed that they've been making them with these little dots on the flip-flops which really don't alter the feel of the flip-flops, but I do find it kind of strange. I had no idea they made wedges now either! I thought that was pretty cool.

A Silence I Can't Ignore...

I started this entry a handful of times and just wasn't sure how to.
No worries, there's nothing really wrong with me right now. It's more of a new information I'm processing.

Phil and I had a really great Valentine's Day! We celebrated early, cooked our delicious meal together and just enjoyed one another's company :) I do have pictures of the food that I'll post later with the recipes. The Rocky Road Rice Krispie Treats were probably the biggest hit of the evening!

On Valentine's Day, I had my annual appointment with my favorite doctor . I figured I'd be used to this type of exam, but not in the slightest. Plus, I have new insurance and had to figure that all out. When I got to speak with the doctor, she told me some information about what happened to me this summer. Dr. V said, based off of what happened, she thinks it was a tubal pregnancy. If I didn't chemically dissolve the pregnancy, I would of had to have emergency surgery to remove whatever tube was in trouble. That was a little scary to hear. She did say it is good that I got pregnant in the first place. However, she did advise me to go back to Dr. H, the doctor who officially diagnosed me with PCOS, and do a test to see if one or both of my tubes are blocked. If one or both are, I'll still have some issues with tubal pregnancies. I told my mama about it and she sounded like that would be good to look into. I, of course, googled the procedure to see how rough it would be. It doesn't look to bad, but it's still a little scary because I'm such a scaredy-cat ;) So I've been processing all of that.

I'm having some career issues right now, but unfortunately it's mostly stuff I have to suck up and deal with. Yay for being an adult right? *sigh*

Anyways, with this stress in my life, today was definitely a Red Hot Chili Peppers kind of day. For my Music Monday, I have a lovely mix of songs for my mood today. Enjoy!

Love Is In The Air...

I had quite an interesting morning.

The snow from the most recent storm is very dry - what I find similar to Colorado snow. Although it's crunchy and easy to melt, there was still a small layer of ice underneath the fresh layer of snow. I left the apartment this morning, going a slow speed. Well, after turning left, the car in front of me suddenly slid sideways and crossed the opposite side of the road into the parking lot of a local karate club. Luckily no one was coming when she crossed the street, and I was far enough behind her that I didn't T-bone the car. After she slid, I slowed down to about 20 mph, (I was going maybe 30 at the time), and then people started to pass me. Now the reason I was getting more anxious and upset about the entire situation was because the roads had not been plowed what so ever. I gripped my steering wheel tighter and decided to make the round-about trip back to the apartment complex. It took me nearly 20 minutes to go 3 miles back to the parking lot. I concentrated as hard as I could at the task at hand. However, as soon as I put the car in park, the adrenaline kicked in. The moment I walked through the door of our apartment, I started bawling my eyes out. Then, when Phil offered to drive me to work, I got hysterical. I'm usually not that bad, but the idea of going back out there just really upset me. Once I calmed down, I called work and they said it was ok if I stayed home today. I am not proud of the fact that I gave up, but watching that woman slide in front of me just really freaked me out. I couldn't help imagining myself sliding into the oncoming traffic and it scared every fiber of my being. Phil did go on an errand this afternoon and said the roads were much better. If the traffic report in the morning says the roads are slick again, Phil has volunteered to drive me to work... slowly :)

Now onto something more happy/exciting/fun/any of adjective you can think of that's the opposite of that last story!


This Weekend Thursday
With Valentine's Day being on Monday, Phil and I decided to celebrate on Saturday! We've already exchanged gifts, (that's another story entirely HAHA), but I wanted to do something special.

Tomorrow night, Phil and I are going to see "Much Ado About Nothing"! It's my favorite Shakespearean play :) Plus, we had tickets for Thursday of last week, but due to the weather, the cast had not had a dress rehearsal and chose to cancel their opening performance. No matter, we got to switch performances very easily.

I'm also picking up some Challah bread tomorrow so we can make some French Toast on Saturday morning. I will be honest, I'm not a huge fan of French Toast. However, I know it's one of Phil's favorites. Plus, I just got my new Rachael Ray magazine with a recipe for French Toast with Espresso Cream! It sounds so good! For dinner, I'm making a dinner consisting of this, this, this, and of course, this.

Sunday will be fairly typical with church and relaxing. Since our PBS series finished, we've starting enjoying Martinis and How I Met Your Mother. It still works well :) I tried suggesting Sex and the City, but Phil seemed apprehensive. Hmmm... why is that?! LOL
I will also be making some cookies for my co-workers!

With Monday being Valentine's Day, we're going to see this movie and I'm super excited!! I know it'll be cute/good.

But Now You're Getting Comfortable...

Another snow day for Phil and I. It's still snowing now, but it should be stopping soon. Hopefully I can get to work tomorrow. I am enjoying the How I Met Your Mother marathon with my best friend :)

I like crushed the best, and Sonic drinks are the closest to cubed that I like :)

{two} what is your worst traffic pet peeve?
People driving dangerously. This can include:
not using signals
riding too close to the back end of my car
switching lanes quickly
weaving in and out of traffic
driving too fast in bad weather
driving when too old to be in the driver's seat

{three} what room in your house best represents your personality?
Right now, nothing entirely. Since we live in an apartment, I can't paint right now.
However, most of how I decorate in general is mostly a reflection of me with some things Phil likes/doesn't hate ;)

{four} do you save old birthday cards?
I do, but I find that I have no place to put them. Hopefully I can do something to remedy this soon.
Maybe a folder or box of some kind...

{five} when was the last time you went on a picnic?
Wow, I think it was August of 2006, before I left for college and after Phil moved for grad school.

{six} do you regularly check your horoscope?
Nope. I very much act like my star sign, but I don't follow daily scopes

{seven} when you’re home, what do you wear on your feet?
Usually nothing, but I have been wearing my slipper boots I got for Christmas! (Thanks MIL!)

{eight} what’s your favorite gambling game?
Um... I don't really gamble because I'm so horrible at it!
However, I may play either penny slots or some type of electronic card game (only if someone is with me who knows what they're doing ;D)

{nine} have you ever written (or started writing) a book?
Yes, but I've changed it from one type to another. I am going to write two separate children's books: one about my father as a child and another about my mother as a child!

Shopping Spree Begin...

First of all, I want to give a shout-out to my wonderful mama! She not only listened to my grumblings this afternoon, (sparing Phil the trouble), but she helped me think of what to call today. {Love you mama!!!}

I'm on the lookout for some super cute black shoes from my best friend's wedding this May. I lovelovelove these! I don't care how much they may hurt, I will wear these shoes! I should probably check to see if the groomsman walking with me down the aisle is tall so I'm not towering over him...

I think these flats are adorable! And of course, I love most things from Target. I really like the blue, but I don't think they'd go with much. If I do get these, I would mostly likely get the black ones.

I know so many people who own and love TOMS. Not only are they great shoes, but it's for a great cause. I like the red ones 1) because it's different and 2) I recently got a navy and white striped cardigan and I think these would look really cute together.

I'm actually cheating with this one. I already own them :) I allow myself $40 every paycheck to spend how I want. I saw this on another blog, looked them up and bought them! They are supposed to deliver tomorrow, the same time my parka is supposed to come in. However, I have a feeling UPS won't be delivering tomorrow due to the 6-12" of snow we're supposed to get. Anyways, I'm excited to get them!!

Ok kids, we may be in for round 2 of major snow here in Oklahoma. The funny thing? My new winter parka is scheduled to deliver the day it dumps more snow - Wednesday. Awesome.

I'm going to try and be consistent with my entries from now on. I think I'm finally getting into the swing of things. You know, it only took 1 full month and 1 1/2 winter storms to get me going ;) On Mondays, I will be doing Music Mondays. Not just songs I am into, but just anything that involves music in general. Still Can't Lay Me Down To Sleep...

So far, February and I are fighting.

p.s. Did that picture make you laugh too? I really think it's my favorite thing about today XD

The past two days, Phil has been sweet enough to drive me to and from work. The roads are slowly getting better, but they're still pretty bad. I pretty much wanted to cry every time we got to our destination just because I had been so tense up until that point. All these rednecks in their large trucks think that 70 mph on an icy highway is acceptable. It did snow off and on today and we're supposed to get even more so who knows how bad the roads could get :(

Then, I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before or not, but in December of 09, Phil and I returned home after Christmas vacation to find the ceiling in our closet and collapsed. It caused water damage to some of our clothes, items, but luckily it *barely* missed my wedding dress. It was really cold and we had a huge heating bill that month. The apartment maintenance guys finally got it fixed and we were fine. Well, before work yesterday, we noticed a few pieces of the ceiling on the floor so we reported that it might be weakening. When we got home from work, it was dripping. Here's the kicker: maintenance can't fix it until the snow melts. Great. With more snow in the forecast, it may take even longer! Now, I'm severely allergic to mold so my sinuses and I are not getting along. It also doesn't help that half our closet is now scattered around our bedroom, bathroom and hallway upstairs. Let me tell you, there's not that much room in the first place :-/ So now we have 3 buckets, a tarp, and our prayers keeping that ceiling from collapsing a second time. Urgh!

A few other small things have happened, but I'm sure you get the gist. Phil is the one who hates February, but I guess it's rubbing off on me this year. *sigh* I'm ready for March.

However, not everything in February is bad. Today is my Aunt Nancy's birthday. Sadly, she passed away in 2005 and I think of her very often. We were very much alike and she was such a joy to all who had the honor of knowing and loving her. I miss her very much. Also, I'm currently reading this book and it has made me realize how much I like and admire Abe Lincoln (minus the vampire stuff since that is not true at all). It is a good book, but sometimes it takes quotes from his speeches and I just really like them. Since his birthday is February 12th, I figure he's one of the few good things about February :)

I Know The Truth Awaits Me...


Today marks Day 2 of the great blizzard in Oklahoma. Although most universities and several companies will be closed, I actually get to wake up and go to work tomorrow! A part of me is very happy to do something and not have to lose another day of pay. However, a tiny part of me is sad that I won't get to sleep in for a third day :)

I did a video with Phil that I was going to publish Sunday, but I forgot. Then I tried on Monday and the link is not working :( As soon as I get it to work, it'll be on here. Please forgive the fact that I will talk about things from this past weekend! lol

I've also been having a rough time lately. Partially due to readjusting to life now that I'm not a student. Also when it comes to dealing with people who are less mature than I am. It's just so hard for me to be compassionate when I've never had the attitude. There is a side of me that worries about the confrontation, but secretly I long to hear their excuse. That way, when I realize it's not valid, I can laugh it off and try my hardest not to care. I've always had a problem with people hating me just for being alive, but it never stops hurting. No matter how much I mature, it's hard not to let the immature rule my emotions. They're just so good at it.

I thought for something fun, I'd participate in "A Wee Bit of Me Wednesdays"!
