BB-3 Week 34 Update

I'm going to be really honest and say I'm so glad we made it another week. After my hospital observation last week, I was Googling babies born around 34 weeks just to prepare myself. (I know, I know...) Anyways, I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and the CNP told me she's not all the concerned about early labor or preeclampsia. I get to do a 24-hour urine sample along with a blood test this weekend to look for early signs of hypertension, but even the CNP told me this was just a very conservative act to give me peace of mind. My BP was 127/90, which is high for me during pregnancy. I guess we'll see!

Today's date: June 23, 2016

How far along: 34 Weeks

Total weight gain: 32 pounds

Size and growth of baby: BB-3 is the size of a cantaloupe or baguette batard! They are just under 5 pounds, and around 18 inches long. BB-3 is getting rounder and skin is smoother as they continue to gain weight. If born now, BB-3 would have little to no complications. (Thank goodness!) They are also urinating a pint a day!  {via and via}

Baby is a: baby!

Maternity clothing: All clothing, except a few things I wear at home or cardigans, are maternity.

Sleep: Sleep is decent. I've woken up around 4:30 every morning to use the bathroom. I can usually go back to sleep ok. Also, some nights I'm ready for bed at 9pm, and others I'm not even feeling tired until nearly midnight. Sometimes my pelvic bone is really sore, so I have to be careful getting in and out of bed/sitting positions. The struggle is real, y'all!

Movement: BB-3 squirms and rolls just fine :) They do have quiet days, but I try to not let those bother me. That's why you do kick counts, right?

Cravings/Aversions: I craved fruit, cheesecake, Twizzlers, ice cream (with strawberries and chocolate), strawberry shortcake, strawberry shakes, key lime cheesecake, kiwi strawberry flavored Snapple, (sensing a theme yet?!), and chips & salsa. Aversions are still raw meat, pork, rice, peanut butter, curry, coconut milk, and mushrooms.

Morning Sickness: A couple of moments of nausea, but they pass, and it's never as bad as the first trimester. I did have one wave where I really thought I was going to throw up, but I didn't. I looked back at old pregnancy updates with Jillian and David, and nausea seems to come back towards the end for me. Hopefully I can do it without Zofran.

Symptoms: Big baby bump, bump feeling heavy, out of breath, baby kicks (that sometimes hurt), emotional, round ligament pain, itchy belly, some light swelling if I'm on my feet too long, gassy, a little heartburn, pelvic pain, feet no longer in sight, nasal sensitivity, sensitive gums and feeling really tired at the end of the day.

Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks every single day, but nothing to hoot and holler about

Belly button in or out: In

How this pregnancy is different than the first two: No medicine, more weight gain, more anxiety, crazy mix of cravings and aversions from both previous pregnancies, I feel more behind on our to-do list, more nasal issues, more dental issues, more exhaustion, and more painful pelvic sensations.

The best moment of this past week: Getting through the week, a good doctor's appointment, it wasn't terribly hot, and having a nice dinner with friends on Tuesday night :)

What I miss: Nothing :)

I'm looking forward to: Making it to July, and BB-3's birth :)

  1. Stay in BB-3, I want to see you in August! On a random other note, I was never told by my doctors to do kick counts so I never did. I don't know if that is good or bad. One less thing to worry about I guess, but I did pay attention to movement.

But I Know What It Feels Like

This post is going to be awfully vulnerable and hard for me, but I really want to finally say it out loud. I got permission for my daughter ...
